What to do when the RTMT installer just quietly fails on you every time.
We noticed something a few weeks ago about RTMT. We went to install it just according to Cisco’s normal instructions and… it doesn’t work! It sounds impossible but no matter how many times we tried, the RTMT installer just quietly died and did nothing. No error message, no clues, no logs.
If you’ve had this problem too I’m guessing your machine is probably like ours — somewhat up to date, running a somewhat recent version of Java. However.… it turns out the RTMT installer will only run if you are running Oracle Java SE 15 or *older*.
So anyway, here’s how to fix it.
Wait, why is Sideview playing with RTMT?
Well, you can never have too much insight, right? Our Cisco CDR Reporting and Analytics app gives customers a massive visibility upgrade, all from “just” the CDR. 300+ fields are available out of the box for on the fly troubleshooting, reporting and monitoring. Once you set up the “Sites” lookup, configure the free Active Directory integration, and maybe add our (paid) AXL addon, you have 500+ fields. Names, departments, buildings, hardphone models.
But what if we added more? We’re looking to also get RTMT data folded into some key reports and pages. For example on the dashboard for this critical hardphone, show me its exact state and if I leave it up on my monitor, make it update in realtime.
As always, if this gives you an idea or brings up a question, we’d love to hear from you!
The finalMobileCallingPartyNumber field is critical to SNR analysis, but it also illustrates the importance of looking beyond the more familiar fields.
